Delete your account and data

Short answer: In the Guardian app, open Settings and tap Delete Account. It opens tvcp.app/delete-data, which asks you to email [email protected] from your sign-up address. Cancel your App Store or Google Play subscription separately: deleting your account doesn't cancel it.

Updated

Before you start

  • Cancel your subscription in the App Store or Google Play. Deleting your account doesn’t stop the store billing you. See Cancel your subscription.
  • Unpair your TVs. See Remove a TV. Turn Uninstall Blocking off first if you want to remove TVCP from the TVs afterwards.

Steps

  1. Open Settings. In the Guardian app, tap the round button with your initials at the top of the Home screen.
  2. Tap Delete Account under Account. Your browser opens our Delete My Data page.
  3. Email us from the address you signed up with, to [email protected], with the subject “Request to delete account data”.
  4. Wait for our confirmation email. We aim to finish within 30 days.

Deletion is permanent. Once your data is deleted, it can’t be recovered.

What data TVCP keeps

To make App Blocking work, the TVCP app on the TV collects the list of apps installed on it (their names and package identifiers). It’s shared only with the parent account paired to that TV, and used only for parental control: never for advertising or profiling, and never sold. The full details are in our Privacy Policy.
